East West TournamentDunno why but on sat night i still dun feel like there is a tourny the next day. Funny thing was after we started to watch the HK drama at Daphne's house we can't stop! Slept at bout 3 loh.. Super sleepy when wake up to go SKC.
When i reach dojo, i scanned thru the list of groups & names on the wall. haha found out dat me & Derek was in the same team. Den i saw Douglas name too! The other two players were juniors & i dun reali know dem well at first but got to know each other better later in the Tourny. My mood was still ok cos i was tinkin wether we win or lose it doesn't matter cos usually dis involves luck more den skill. haha!
But Derek reali shock me today cos he keep scoring pts 4his matches. He has not trained for so long but he has not lost his skills either. Douglas was very good too cos 4his age he's scored quite a few pts on the younger players. The other two players in my team was good too because they did not anyhow hit & eveything they did was good basic cuts & hits which helped the team alot in winning.
Frankly speaking i felt bad at the beginning of the tourny cos i was still half awake & i was hoping dat if we lost we could rest!! Even when we had won in the first match by points thanks 2my team members i was basically resting when i was fighting wif Jaclyn cos i felt no purpose to get points.
It was only at the 2nd match when i was fighting with joyce & she got the first pt from me & i started to woke up. I felt very bad for not trying my best cos my team members was working so hard. So i decided to go all out for it & luckily i scored 2pts from joyce which enabled us to qualify 4the elimination round. haha i use the gedan method again. felt bad bout it.
In the elimination round, my matches were considered easy becos all thanks to my team members who scored & so i juz need to draw the matches. The memorable matches 4me would be fighting the younger morita. He's super fast & good kote player. haha so i tried using the gedan method on him so that my kote would be less targetted. My team had won only by 1pt so i die die have to draw with morita. haha! I did alot of weird swinging motion wif my shinai in order to prevent being hit. Felt so silly when Morita was juz standing there watching while i hit the air.. 0.0
Later when we proceeded to the finals & when i look at the opposite team, i realli felt dat we were going to lose. cos the other team was much younger, faster & stronger. haha! But later Douglas told me dat hopefully we can win the gold medal dis yr, i told myself i wuld try my best for dem. Our team is reali very interesting. haha! the most quiet team. We nvr talk much to each other & mostly juz ended up whispering good luck & good fight. hee..
During the finals, i was telling dem pls score pls score so that i juz need to draw cos my opponent is a very fast & strong teenage player from Waseda. haha! BUT very funny our sempo, jiho & chuken draw everything & when it was Derek's turn i was hoping a win from him. He did got the 1st pt which makes me felt abit relieved but when the time was almost up, he lost a pt so it became a draw. haha! I turn 2look at daphne, Jaclyn, Joyce & my team members & in a way i was actually laughing becos i reali appreciate these frens & seniors who supported me & i juz shouted in my heart: "Why put me in this situation again?!!!" haha!
Finally i won by a kote pt. Happy. can't wait to call my 'Grandfather'.
